From lively swing to cutting edge modern jazz; from jazz standards to the freshest Afrobeat, from acoustic singer-songwriters to electric Delta blues, from special concerts celebrating jazz icons to the best young jazz singers on the scene, from New Orleans bass bands to new duos, from dinner jazz at Carmelite to the best jazz Club in Scotland at The Blue Lamp, #AJF19 has something for everyone.
The Red Hot Rhythm Makers are al all-female trad group, making their Festival debut; The Story of Swing relives the ear of Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Glenn Miller; Richard Ingham’s band play the music from the seminal Birth Of the Cool.
The Uk’s top Afrobeat purveyors, Nubiyan Twist get the party started and Tom McGuire & The Brassholes, Back Chat Brass, The Brass Funkeys keep the momentum going.
Scottish National Jazz Orchestra are joined by legendary Norwegian bassist Arild Anderson, Paul Towndrow, Steve Hamilton, Fergus McCreadie – Pianist, Martin Kershaw, Laura Jurd, Tim Garland will deliver stellar modern jazz.
Whilst top Aberdeen singer Marisha Addison celebrates 50 years on the stage, we introduce Georgia Cécile, Irini Arabatzi, Mary May Jazz takes off round Aberdeenshire and Cindy Douglas celebrates Nat King Cole with Dinner from the award winning chefs at Carmelite Hotel, Bar and Grill.
