Back to Nature at Haddo

Description: Back to Nature at Haddo is a chance for children to experience life in the outdoors, led by a Forest Ranger. The Ranger will talk to the children about the Outdoor Access Code, the Leave No Trace ethos and how to interact with nature in a safe way. He will take the children through fire safety (very important in these very dry conditions), how to tie knots effectively, how to erect a tarpaulin, what wood to choose to build a fire and there may even be time to build a den.
These classes are a great opportunity for children to fully engage with the natural world and learn the simple pleasure of being outdoors. Children should be age 7+ for these classes. Younger children can attend as we know it can be hard to find childcare, but it should be expected that they will not fully participate.
Each class costs £5 per child. Accompanying parents and younger children are free to attend. Children must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
There are three sessions throughout the day: 09:30 – 11:30 | 12:00 – 14:00 | 14:15 – 16:00

Old Rayne is on the A96 – 9 miles north of Inverurie. From A96 at Pitmachie, turn into the village of Old Rayne, go past the Lodge Hotel, round the corner you will see the village hall where you will be guided to the car park
We have a specific designated parking for those with mobility issues.
In terms of walking areas, the showground in in park that usually houses sheep etc. Therefore, it can be a bit tufty in places, but overall it would be passable with crutches with care.
The designated disabled parking is adjacent to the horses rings, and we have straw bails for seating at the ringside. There would be a short walk.
We have a disabled access toilet in the st. Lawrence Hall situated at the entrance to the showfield.
Information Trailer is right next to the disabled parking area on the showfield for information on the day.

Teddy Bears’ Picnic
