Garden Tot’s Spring Special

Description: Join outdoor expert Mandy Tulloch in our wild garden for some springtime fun, especially for young children.

Incredible Power of Light: The Laser Roadshow!

Organiser: Aberdeen Science Centre

Description: We’re hosting STFC’s Incredible Power of Light: Lasers roadshow!

Come explore a range of state-of-the-art laser technology provided by the Central Laser Facility (CLF) and how lasers take a role in every day life. You have until the 1 June to join us to explore!

Accompanied with this our Laser and Light show will show you the science behind lasers, and we’ll have hands-on activities on the floor.

The exhibition features interactive exhibits including a walk-through of the laser area of the Vulcan laser, informative artwork and digital media.

International Children’s Book Day

Organiser: White Horse Hotel & Restaurant

Date: Sunday 2nd April 2017

Description: On the 2nd of April its international children’s book day and to celebrate we are putting on two story sessions. 20 tickets available per session.

There will be crafts, a walk around whilst telling the story then lunch/ dinner.

The first is the Gruffalo 1030 – 12. Recommended for 5 years and under. A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood. A fox saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.” Walk further into the deep dark wood, and discover what happens when the quick-thinking mouse comes face to face with an owl, a snake and a hungry gruffalo . . .

Finished with a picnic style lunch.

The second is Gigantosaurus 230 – 4pm. This is recommended for 7 and under. Bonehead, Tiny, Fin and Bill are four tiny and terribly cute dinosaurs who like spending their days playing. Their mums warn them to beware of the Gigantosaurus, but like most children do they take any notice? Why, of course not! Well actually … Bonehead does. He keeps tricking his friends by calling out the Gigantosaurus is coming. But what happens when the Gigantosaurus really does come???

Finished with dinner from the children’s menu.

April Sling Meet And 2nd Birthday Party!

Bushcraft Skills for Young People

Organiser: Haddo House & Country Park

Where: Haddo House & Country Park, Ellon, Aberdeenshire AB41 7EQ

Date:  Wednesday 5th April 2017
Time: 10.30am – 12.00pm or 12.30pm – 2.00pm

Description: Join Aberdeenshire Council Ranger Service and Haddo House & Country Park to learn essential bushcraft and camping skills, or to improve on your existing skills. Sessions may include campfire set-up/take down; knots and ropes; basic knife skills; saws and other hand tools; safe campfire lighting and campfire cookery.

Activities suitable for 7yrs plus accompanied by an adult. Younger children may come along but will not be able to take part in most or all of the activities. Activities may be weather dependent, if there’s something you particularly want to learn let us know when booking and we’ll do our best to include it.

£5 per child per session (no charge for non-participating younger children), advance booking essential.

Tall Stories’ magical musical stage adaptation of Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler flies into town!

How the cat purred and how the witch grinned As they sat on their broomstick and flew through the wind. The witch and her cat are flying happily along on their broomstick when a stormy wind blows the witch’s hat, bow and wand away into the night.

A helpful dog, bird and frog find the witch’s lost things and all hop on the broom for a ride. But this broomstick’s not meant for five and – CRACK! – it snaps in two! Songs, laughs and scary fun for children aged 3 and up (and their grown-ups).
